Estimate your cost per session
Use our OSCAR subsidy calculator to see what you could pay per session at RASCALS after the Work and Income OSCAR Subsidy. Choose how many dependent children are in your family, enter your household income before tax, then pick a recurring, full or half session.
The OSCAR Subsidy (Out of School Care and Recreation) helps eligible New Zealand families with the cost of before and after school care for up to 20 hours a week. It is paid directly to OSCAR-approved providers like RASCALS, at up to $6.72 per hour, per child, depending on your income and family size.
Our session prices
- Recurring session (3:00–6:00pm): $30
- Casual full session (3:00–6:00pm): $35
- Casual half session: $25
Your cost = session price − (OSCAR hourly rate × session hours). With the top subsidy rate, a recurring session works out at around $10 per day.
This calculator gives an estimate only, based on OSCAR rates from 1 April 2026. Work and Income confirms your eligibility and actual rate. We suggest applying 3–4 weeks before care starts. Check eligibility and apply on the Work and Income website.
