RASCALS is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of tamariki, parents/caregivers, and whānau. We collect and use personal information responsibly, respectfully, and in accordance with privacy legislation.
What information we collect
We may collect personal information including:
- Child’s name, date of birth, and enrolment details
- Parent/caregiver contact details
- Medical, health, allergy, and emergency information
- Attendance records
- Information required for safety, wellbeing, or legal purposes
We only collect information that is necessary to deliver our programme safely and effectively.
Why we collect information
Personal information is collected to:
- Enrol children in our programme
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of tamariki
- Communicate with parents and caregivers
- Meet legal and regulatory requirements
Who can access the information
Access to personal information is limited to:
- Authorised RASCALS staff and management who need the information to carry out their role
- Government agencies or authorities where required by law
- Emergency services, where necessary to protect health or safety
We do not share personal information unnecessarily or for unrelated purposes.
How information is stored and protected
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure:
- Physical records are stored securely
- Electronic information is password-protected
- Access is limited to authorised personnel only
Information about children
When collecting and using information about tamariki, we take extra care to ensure:
- Information is collected fairly and respectfully
- Information is not unreasonably intrusive
- Information is used only to support the child’s care, safety, and participation
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to personal information held about you or your child
- Request correction of any information that is inaccurate or incomplete

How long we keep information
Personal information is kept only for as long as required for operational, legal, or safety purposes. Information is securely disposed of when it is no longer needed.
Privacy concerns or complaints
If you have questions or concerns about privacy, or believe there has been a privacy breach, please contact us as soon as possible.
If a serious privacy breach occurs, affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner will be notified where required by law.
